I’ve created some free printable gift tags to help adorn your yummy creation – whether it’s a fresh baked batch of cookies, a jar of antipasto, or some homemade almond bark. There seems to be plenty of options out there for free printable labels these days, so I wanted to make mine a little different. Hence, the slightly unorthodox phrases.

Add a simple ribbon or some twine and you’re set – no wrapping paper needed!

Happy holidays!

*Please note that these labels are for personal, non-commercial use only.

This event goes down on Thursday, November 8th 6:00 – 8:00 pm @ Hooker’s Green in Yaletown

We’ve all seen them… ugly ties. They are known to lurk in dark corners of your Uncle Bob’s closet, in “fashion faux-pas” tabloid features, or be in plain sight around your co-workers’ neck in the lunch room.

Spinal Cord Injury BC (SCI BC) is hosting a creative fundraiser on Thursday, November 8th, called the Ugly Tie Affair, which requires attendees to don the ugliest (or awesomest) ties they can find. All in the name of supporting people with spinal cord injuries and related physical disabilities adjust, adapt and thrive in their communities. A fantastic cause if you ask me!

I was asked to put together a quick e-vite for the event, which happens at Hooker’s Green in Yaletown. You can find all the details and purchase tickets for the event here!

Learn how to transform yourself into a giant piece of salmon with this DIY salmon nigiri sushi costume.

The post DIY Salmon Nigiri Sushi Costume appeared first on .

There’s something about dressing as giant food that I find amusing, and being a huge fan of sushi meant that transforming myself into a giant piece of salmon nigiri for Halloween was meant to be.

Super bonus: this costume is very easy and cheap to make (it cost me about $10 and maybe took 1 hour of ‘work’).

What you need:
• textured white dress or top (to emulate rice)
• strip of black fabric (for the nori)
• salmon-coloured fabric
• pillow stuffing
• paintbrush & white fabric paint
• needle & thread (or sewing machine)
• a headband

• light-green coloured shower poof (for the wasabi)
• green construction paper or cardstock
• chopsticks
• empty soy-sauce packages
• velcro or safety pins
• belt that fits snugly around your natural waist

Put on your white top, along with your salmon pillow, nori wrap, and condiment headband, and voila, you are now a giant piece of sushi! Make sure you give lots of peace-signs in every photo throughout the night!
